Sujet
- Background: The gene ITGB4, also known as CD104, encodes for the integrin beta subunit integrin beta-4. Integrin alpha-6/beta-4 is a receptor for laminin and plays a critical structural role in the hemidesmosome of epithelial cells. ITGA6:ITGB4 is likely to play a pivotal role in the biology of invasive carcinoma. Mutations in ITGB4/CD104 are associated with epidermolysis bullosa with pyloric atresia [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (Gene ID: 3691) and UniProtKB (Entry: P16144)].
